Dishonest and disreputable
I recomend you don't use Liyu! From my experience, they are dishonest and disreputable. I flew to Semera for a Denakil Depression tour and there was nobody to meet me at the airport! They did not provide the trip I had paid for. The only reason I got a tour of Denakil was that a very kind guide from Ethio Travel and Tours allowed me to tag along with them. Use them instead and avoid Liyu

Posted on Jul 19, 2025We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused at the beginning of your tour. Our driver missed the initial airport pickup in Semera, but we acted quickly and sent another driver who met you shortly afterward and completed the private tour service as arranged.
During the tour and after it ended, we stayed in touch with you and discussed the issue directly. You requested a refund specifically for the missed airport transfer, and although we had resolved the situation professionally at the time, we honored your request and issued a $250 refund as a gesture of goodwill — despite it being a significant amount.
While the full tour was delivered and costs were covered on our side, we took responsibility and did our best to make things right. We always strive to improve, and your feedback has helped us reflect on how we can serve our guests better in the future.
We truly regret that your experience did not meet expectations and wish you the very best in your future travels.
Very little knowledge
Coffee and lunch experience were nice.
A thing to do with Addis and history was not informative, I was reading what was written in the museum. I understand it was Sunday but there are few things to see in Addis which are outdoors. I think very much depends on the tour guide you get.
I hope they will improve the service going forward.

Amazing
My tour guide was Oli, a very knowledgeable, experienced, articulate, and courteous person. He was with Kidus who was on internship and quite understandable why he was paired with Oli. They were a great pair, I would recommend Oli to anyone who is visiting Ethiopia. Thanks Oli and Kidus for your time and taking us on a tour.

Excellent 12-day tailored tour of Ethiopia
We did a tailored 12-day tour of Ethiopia with Liyu Tours. Yun was so easy to communicate with while we were planning our trip, very responsive, and accommodating of all our needs and requests. We included Dannakil, Tigray, Lalibela, Omo Valley, Addis Ababa and Dibre Libanos. We booked our own internal flights for convenience but Yun was happy to do this for us too if we wanted. And when one of our flights got changed, and messed up a big chunk of our itinerary, Yun was able to sort this out on our behalf and still make sure we got to do everything we wanted. All of his connections, drivers and tour guides in the differebt regions were fantastic and took really good care of us, and everything ran so smoothly. He also selected great choices for accommodation to fit into our tight budget. Highlights were definitely Dannakil and Tigray (for the Abuna Yemata Guh). Yun also kept his promise about the price despite the challenges with fuel in Ethiopia which put us at ease as we're travelling for a long time. To finish off our trip in Ethiopia we added on doing a cooking class (with Yun's mother) and a coffee tasting experience, both of which were fantastic. I would love to come back to Ethiopia and explore the other regions, and will definitely use Liyu Tours again.

Excellent service
We just finished an 8-day private tour with Liyu tours and had an amazing time. We contacted a few tour companies based on some reviews we saw and decided on going with Liyu Tours because Yhun helped us create our own itinerary by combining a few trips and he was always quick to respond to any of our requests or questions. Yhun made amazing plans and took care of everything based upon our requests, including all hotel bookings and airport transfers in addition to the tours in each place. We didn't have to worry about anything and the only extra costs were lunch/dinner, souvenirs and tips.
During our trip we visited Addis Ababa, Harar, Awash, Debre Libanos and Wanchi. We loved all the places but the highlight of the trip was probably feeding the hyenas in Harar.
We were 3 women travelling together and felt extremely safe the entire time. The guides and drivers provided by Liyu Tours were all great. Our trip took place during the current fuel crisis and as a result some adjustments had to be made to our original plan. Despite the challenging situation Yhun delivered on everything that had been promised and we were able to visit all the places we had planned. How the unexpected is handled is what truly makes for a great experience and Liyu Tours handled everything perfectly and we felt we were in great hands the entire trip.
We are already thinking about visiting Ethiopia again in the future to see the places we didn't have time to visit this time and when we do we will definitely be contacting Yhun at Liyu Tours again!

Raw, authentic - real experience
From the very first day, they made everything feel seamless and safe, even in moments that could have easily felt chaotic or unfamiliar. They knew when to step in, when to explain, when to simply let us take it all in. We were welcomed into places we never would have discovered on our own,from historic corners to quiet, meaningful spaces,and even moments like being invited into the cellar of St. George’s Church felt incredibly personal and rare.
Ethiopia is not an easy destination, and that’s exactly what makes it so powerful. Having the right people guiding you through it makes all the difference. We felt safe, taken care of, and truly immersed.

A friendly guides who shows you the best spots without any stress.
The excursion was very well organised from start to finish — the pickup was punctual, everything ran on schedule without any waiting around, and our guides clearly knew the city inside and out. Amazing Addis Ababa City Tour & Cooking Experience
I spent 2 days with Liyu Ethiopia Tours and honestly it was such a great experience.
I booked a city tour and a cooking class in Addis Ababa. Everything was smooth from the beginning—both days the guide arrived on time, and the driver was very professional. The car was clean and comfortable, which made a big difference.
The cooking class with Mahi was one of my favorite parts. She is very friendly and explains everything in a simple and clear way. I really enjoyed the time with her—it didn’t feel like a class, more like cooking with a friend.
On the second day, I did the city tour with Oli, and he was an excellent guide. I learned a lot about Addis and Ethiopian culture, and he made the tour very interesting and relaxed.
