Same as Ngorongoro Crater it is a must see, but way to crowded, do not visit it during August as it is peak season and you have safari vehicles all over the places!

The Big Outdoors, and truly is Big

A beautiful expanse of territory with varied wildlife and a simmering vibe. The Serengeti has everything. Mornings are special, burning sunrises with hot air balloons dotted in the sky give a romantic flavour to the setting. One has to remind oneself they are still in wild unforgiving surroundings. The sun beats relentless at midday, but still there is "entertainment" with the daily business and survival of the animals. One thing that adds to the entertainment is the rush to happenings/sightings in park. This can seem unfair to the animals to be so voyeuristic, but it is the reason where are all there - to see nature, to see the animals to experience the big outdoors.

Serengeti is awesome, but...

I've always had a dream of going on a safari in Africa. In 2014 I finally had the chance to do so, and I got to spend three days in Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

First of all, Serengeti is huge. Much bigger than I expected. We had to drive for a while to even get there, and when we got there, we drove more. And more. And more. Searching for wildlife. I thought the animal density would be bigger than it was, but was actually surprised in a positive way to find out it wasn't. Didn't want to think I was in a zoo either.

The first animal we spotted was actually the animal we didn't expect to see; a leopard. Sitting there, on his own, in the middle of the plain, surrounded by 20-30 safari vehicles. This is probably the thing that "ruins" the safari experience the most; all the people that surrounds the animals at all times, specially if you spot one of the great 5.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime-experience to get the chance
Read more to sleep in a tent in the middle of the Serengeti. We could hear the animals make noises not very far away, and I just waited for a lion or a hyena to come over an knock on my tent door. Actually, in Ngorongoro, I had to get through a flock of zebras to get to the toilet. Not something you get to do everyday!

What you have to do while you're in Serengeti is to take a hot air balloon ride. You start early in the morning, mayube 4 am, and get to see the sunrise from up in the air while the animals below you just look at you. It is a truly amazing experience!

All in all; safari is a great experience. I spotted every animal I wanted to see, except from the cheetah.

Maybe next time. I'm not done with Africa. Not at all.

The perfect Journey

The days I spent in Serengeti National Park during my stay in Tanzania have been amazing. Immese strethces of flat land surrounded by nothing but the horizon and the most exciting animals making you company during your safaris are breathtaking emotions, not comparable to the everyday routine that we are used to all along our lives.
Moving through the park by the jeep, with a local prepared guide who drives you to the most precious locations makes it even better than it already is.
The weather I found in August was great, a fresh wind always accompanied us, even when the temperature under the sun got higher.
The accommodations are very limited, as there are quite a few lodges. But their quality is just superior; but food is not what makes the difference in this kind of journey.

The endless views, all that wildlife. Unbelieveble if you see this for the first time in your life. So close in distance to the animals, often they ignore you like the cheetah's, and lion's and elephants. Difficult to describe this.

We had visited Serengeti National Park with family in the month of March 2015. We were quite apprehensive that heavy rains will spoil our safari in the month of March which is rainy season in Serengeti. But that never happened and we were treated with wonderful sightings of large number of zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, giraffes, wild buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, birds and of course the big cats - Lions. Leopards and rhinos were elusive though. We are not allowed to drive off road, therefore the chances of seeing all wildlife are slim, but it is heartening to note that this way the pristine Savannah is preserved. We stayed at Serengeti Serena lodge which is situated in the middle of grasslands, with aesthetically designed cottages, wonderful staff and great food. We really enjoyed our stay there. We had booked the tour through Sunset Africa safari. Our driver and guide Mr. Ben was quite knowledgeable and friendly. The vehicle was a 4x4 Land Cruiser with openable roof and was
