Wonderful safari!!
I'm very glad I used this company for my safari! Jackson was great to work with and answered all of my questions prior to my trip. When I got there I did a 5 day safari as well as a couple day trips around Moshi. Everything was arranged really well and I had such an amazing time! Even when little changes needed to be made in my planned itinerary in the middle of the trip, Jackson was very willing to work with me and make sure I got the full value for what I paid. The price was great and the accommodations were better than I was expecting, given that it was a camping safari. I had a wonderful trip and I definitely recommend MJ Safaris!

Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara & Tarangire NP
The Operator: Jackson was the first person we met in Moshi who seemed trustworthy, flexible and willing to give us a fair deal. In the space of 24 hours, he organised for us to meet the driver/guide and take a ride in the safari vehicle. He met all of our requests and answered our questions with conviction and poise. We had a great experience with MJ Safaris, and my advice to anyone booking a safari is to go to Moshi, meet the operator, meet the driver/guide and take a ride in the car. Moshi is a tourist town and with so many safari operators it can be difficult to find someone trustworthy (I'd met many people on my travels who had been stung by dodgy operators trying to make a quick buck).
The Safari: Our driver, Victor, was excellent. He was friendly and with very good English. He picked us up on time, drove safely and was skilled when negotiating the muddy, dirt roads of the national parks and Crater. He also had an excellent knowledge of the wildlife in the various parks and was quick to drive over to animals so we could get a close-up.

Three day MJ Safari review
I have just finish a very good safari with MJ Safaris. My friend and I were matched up with two other people of a similar age and we did a three day Safari. It was very well done. The itinerary was perfect for us and so was the price. The food was very good at the campsite as were the facilities. The guide knew lots about the animals and he was very friendly. All round a great budget Safari.

Amazing safari through the tarangire park
I had a perfect and well guided tour through tarangire national park. Everything had been well organized.
I enjoyed those safari and will never forget. I am looking forward to my next adventure wth MJ Safaris and with Jackson in 2014.

I had an awesome experience in Tanzania thanks to Jackson and Trekking Hero/MJ Safaris. I was so happy since the first day I contacted Jackson by email until the last day they dropped us off in the airport in Moshi. Jackson and his team took care of us everyday. I hired his services for a 7 day-climb of Kilimanjaro via Machame route and a 4 day-budget safari (Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire parks). We were a group of 8 people and once in Moshi we joined 5 more people so we were a big group to take care of. All of us reached Uhuru peak, the food was delicious during the climb and they were so attentive and helpful. We decided to climb Kili in 6 days instead of 7 days after the group, guides and porters agreed we were ready to do in 6 days. There was a lot communication and friendship between everybody. That gave us an extra free day in Moshi, to do some shopping, relax with a massage, sightseeing the town and checking a marathon. During the safari, we saw so many animals and I took so many pictures. The drivers had so much knowledge about the animals and their habitats. This was a budget safari that overpassed my expectations about food, customer service and lodging. They really took care of us specially the first night when it started raining before setting up the tents. The guides were so diligent and patient with all information and logistics of the safari trip. I am glad that I chose Jackson and his company to experience Tanzania and I would totally recommended to my friends and strangers.

Cheap Safari but rubbish organisation
The safari may be cheap but we lost a lot of time because of lack of organisation between the office and the guides on site. Our itinerary changed every few hours and th guides were pretty confused about who was going where and which day. Everything was planned last minute, basically an hour before we were due to depart somewhere. Leaving in the mornings to go to the parks was always an hour later as the guides needed to get money or pack things or prepare our lunch despite assuring us we would leave at the time we asked and hence waking up extra early so we could be in the park as soon as possible. It was budget but we actually wanted to et to the parks. Our car broke down on the first day so we only got an afternoon game drive. The many guides we had were mainly drivers. At least they had good mechanical skills to fix the car. Th food was really nice though and the tents not to bad with a semi mattress which was quite comfortable. The campsites were good as well. The organisation of our hotel after the safari was also good and we stayed in really nice places. Overall, go for budget joining safari if you don't mind wasting a lot of energy trying to get to the parks and yelling everyday with the driver to leave at the right time and get things moving! We are told all budget joining safaris are like this.
Once in the park everything is amazing, you just need to get there!

Amazing trip with them!
Everything was perfectly arranged. Jackson is very kind and he was waiting for us. He helped to find a good and cheap hotel to stay in Moshi. The food, and all the services was absolutely perfect! I will deffenetly recommend MJ Safaris

wonderful trip to Serengeti and Ngorogoro crater
We had a four day trip to Tarangire, then the Serengeti and coming back to the Ngorogoro crater. This was a first such trip for the three of us (i.e. on safari) and we enjoyed it enormously. Highlights included seeing many lions, especially one in a tree and climbing down. We saw two black rhinos, crossing the road between two lines of jeeps. Magnificent animals. There were huge numbers of giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gazelles, and many elephants, buffalo, ostrich, hippos etc etc. We "saw" a crocodile, but if i'm honest i would have to admit i was only really sure of it when i got the photos and enlarged them!! There was no mistake, the guides obviously saw it clearly!
Our guide Jimmy seemed to have eyes everywhere - only once we saw a lion before he did - and then he said "2 lions". He was an excellent guide, patient, thoughtful, and explaining many things as well as the major animals. He answered all our questions clearly.
There is a lot of driving, a lot of time in the landrover, but it was absolutely worth it. It was all well planned and organised, no problems we were aware of. During the trip one of us was not quite well (not at all serious) and there was appropriate concern and help at the pharmacy in the Serengeti.

Great Trip
After completing a very rewarding and enjoyable climb of Kilimanjaro with MJ they then organised a 4 day safari for me which was a lot easier than climbing Kilimanjaro but equally enjoyable. Everything about the safari was perfect. We saw all of the big 5. We had a good quality and comfortable vehicle. The tents were lovely. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and the food was gorgeous. For me everything was perfect and the price was very reasonable.

My wife and I had the most amazing wildlife safari adventure with MJ Safaris. We saw the big five, and so many other species and much more besides animals. Our trip was extremely well organised and Jackson went out of his way to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. We saw the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, and a number of other parks, including Amboseli on the Kenyan side which were all spellbinding. Our driver Frank was not only highly knowledgeable about everything we saw, but possessed the most remarkable eyesight, picking out well camouflaged animals from distance where my wife and I could see nothing yet! We have come away with lasting memories of such a wonderful time. Huge thanks to MJ Safaris. We recommend them highly.
