Deep Dive into the world and wildlife of Tanzania.
Roko, Miranda and their crew bring out the best they can to meet your wishes and serve you with an inspiring experience into great wildlife, fantastic scenery landscape and direct contact with the maasai community nearby.
We had various shorter daytrips from their cosy Guesthouse and village and enjoyed every one of them! Lake Natron Area is beautifull.
We have been doing already a lot of wildlife Safaris throughout whole Africa, but this visit outstands all the others because of the maasai background of Rokoine. He and the second tourguide Massi really know when and where to find the animals and provide you with an insider view of the country you don’t find anywhere else.
We did a 3-day hike which was spectacular encircling the vulcano dominating the landscape and later in the week also climbed this beautifull Ol Doinyo Lengai, which is an active vulcano! On the top of this steep mountain tour you can see the lava waves flickering in the crater down deep! The 360 view on top was sensational, with the summits of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru just surfacing above the clouds when we were having breakfast and awaiting the sunset

Walking tour through Ngorongoro Highlands with authentic Maasai connection
Our 5-day Ngorongoro Highlands Hike with Roko was an interesting and enjoyable experience. Day 1 and day 5 are driving days between Arusha and the highlands/rift valley with two walks (Olmoti & Empakaai) added on day 1 which was a good way to start the tour.
Day 2 & 3 were the real walking days with a long descent towards Lake Natron on day 3.
These two days also gave us opportunity to observe and interact with Maasai people who live in the area. This was interesting and made this tour very special.
On day 4 we visited a hot spring near Lake Natron. We weren’t able to do the walk to the waterfall although there was plenty of downtime in the afternoon. We would have liked to do a walk that day as well so worthwhile exploring with Roko in advance if that is possible.
We also had the opportunity to do some bonus game driving in the “little Serengeti” and saw plenty of wildlife during the drive back to Arusha.
The accommodation at the Maasai Guesthouse in Esaserongo was very good.
The meals and snacks provided during the trip were of high quality, with fresh ingredients and good flavours. Don’t worry about getting hungry: Roko, Miranda and the chef will ensure that there is plenty of food.
We would recommend this tour to people who want a small scale tour with walking activities involved, who don’t mind camping in the bush and who are prepared to travel according to “Africa time “ (waiting for things to happen without being clear what you are waiting for).

Amazing Roundtrip including Lake Natron, Serengeti and Ngorongoro!
Value for money was good. We‘ve seen all animals including some spectacular hunts in a private safari for 2 people. The guides gave a lot of interesting insights about the animals and the nature. Sleeping in the middle of the Serengeti in a tent was an amazing experience as you could hear lions and hyenas at night! Roko Safaris is also very flexibly available on short notice. We got into contact for our trip only two days in advance!

Disappointing arrangement
This is a very disappointing trip. The most important purpose of our visit to Tanzania is to see the animal migration of the Mara River. This wish has been explained to the travel agency more than two months in advance. Although we arranged to go to the Mara River for a day to watch the animal migration, it took eight hours to go back and forth from our residence more than 200 kilometers away from the Mara River, which we didn't know in advance. It was already ten o'clock in the morning at the Mara River. After waiting for three hours, the driver drove away and we didn't see anything. Later, we learned that wildebeest crossing the river usually ends before 9 o'clock.
This arrangement is frustrating.
Not recommended.
