Excellent knowledge about the places we visited, friendly and always on time.
We visited the Kruger national park and the Panorama route. We saw all the big five at Kruger and the Canyons at the Blyde were fantastic, the three rondavells and pothole were refreshing coupled with the exceptional knowledge from Bongan Safaris about both the Kruger national park and the panorama route. Accommodation at Bongani Safaris is up there with the best in the world, super was served at the boma and it was scrumptious. A repeat visit is definitely on the cards.

Most incredible experience and loved every second of this tour
We did the 5 day tour and we had an amazing time, loved every second of it. We were looked after by Simon, Bongani and his family and it was one of the best vacations we’ve had so far. It was lovely staying in the village and having dinner there every night. We had dinner around the bonfire. The room was cleaned daily. The safari days and panorama tour were amazing. We saw 4 of the big 5 and Simon was great. He listened to what we wanted to do and was a great guide with a great spirit. Highly highly recommend. You’ll love it!

Bongani is an amazing tour operator
I visited South Africa as the guest of a professor who was leading a study abroad course. As part of the trip we spent several days in and around Kruger Park with Bongani as our guide and tour operator. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Bongani is an incredible guide. He knows the park inside and out, knows the patterns of behavior of the wildlife, and is incredibly good at spotting animals that you would never notice on your own. He is also incredibly kind. On our trip he went out of his way to make the experience fun and memorable for everyone. You truly can't go wrong with Bongani as your guide.
A wonderful nature experience
My partner and I went on Safari for my birthday, and we had the most magical time. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, and ideal for getting a good night's sleep before early morning Safari tours. Bongani and the rest of the team were kind and friendly, and helped us with every request we had. The food provided was beyond compare!
Frank, our safari guide was a complete nature expert and tailored the tour to our wishes as much as he could. We saw wonderful animals and birds, and it was an truly unforgettable experience. We loved it and will treasure it forever. Thank you Bongani and team.

Knowledgeable, thoughtful, reliable and fun!
I have visited South Africa many times. Since my first safari with Bongani in 2008, I have always chosen to ride with him (12 different years in total). Why? Because Bongani is the best there is. He manages to find the animals that everyone else is merely looking for, he listens to his passengers and makes decisions about the safari based on their wants and needs, he is incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and their behavior and he is warm and fun to be around. Recently, Bongani built his own lodge and I had the pleasure of staying there in May 2022. The rooms are first class--large and roomy with all the amenities. Outside is a pool and comfortable spaces for lounging, visiting and eating their excellent South African food and the lodge is in Bongani's village so that guests can walk around and enjoy village life. In addition, the lodge is only 15 minutes from Kruger Park; safaris are tiring and at the end of the day it is wonderful to get home to one's lodgings so quickly. When I return, I will definitely ride with and stay with Bongani. I guarantee that you will have a wonderful experience with Bongan Safaris too.

Professional and friendly
Bongan Safaris is a very professional and organized. He makes you feel very welcomed and will go out of his way to make your stay a pleasant one. He has very good knowledge of the nature and its surroundings.

Excellent, hospitable and immersive
It was excellent staying at Bongan Safaris and engaging them for the tours. Our game drive guide Pedro took great care of us and was extremely knowledgeable about the animals. He made sure that we get to see as many of the Big 5 as possible, along with other spectacles.
Other than the safari adventures, we got to see beautiful scenery, hike the Leopard Trail, and had an intimate guided tour of Sigagula Village where the lodge is located at.
At the lodge, we were well fed with delicious local cuisine, and were treated to a traditional song and dance on the last night.
Totally recommended to engage Bongan Safaris for a trip you'll never forget!

Great experience start to finish!
The package was good and had a variety of activities that were well-planned and well-spaced out. The boss, Bongani, and his staff were very friendly and made sure our stay was wonderful. We felt reassured to be in good hands for our time in Johannesburg. Highly recommended!

Home Away from Home Near Kruger, a Hidden Gem!
I first stayed at Bongan Safaris solo in December 2024, and I loved it so much that I returned in March 2025 with my entire family (a group of five). Both times, we had an incredible experience that felt more like staying at a warm, welcoming bed-and-breakfast than a traditional safari lodge. Nestled in a quiet rural village just outside Acornhoek, the lodge offers a peaceful, authentic atmosphere that still feels close to the action. It’s only about a 20-minute drive from Kruger’s Orpen Gate, which made it super convenient for our early morning game drives. I like how Bongan offers both Kruger and private game reserves in the safari package. Some of our favorite experiences included the sunrise bushwalks and sunset drives through the private game reserve full of wildlife sightings!
One of my family members has dietary restrictions, and I really appreciated how the staff at Bongan Safaris went out of their way to accommodate them with thoughtful meal options.
I wouldn’t hesitate to return again and highly recommend it for travelers looking for a budget-friendly, relaxed, and personal safari experience in the Kruger area.

Amazing time in amazing place with amazing people
Had an amazing experience with Bongan and his crew. Frank made a great effort to help us see the big five, we almost drove to Mozambique to finally find the rhino 😅
This family business just seems full of possitive energy, it was the first time I've woken up at 5am with a huge smile on my face.
Houses are very clean and fresh with good A/C. Pool is nice and the ladies are cooking absolutely superb food for dinners.
I would recommend this place to anyone. When we arrived, Bongan was our host - when we were leaving, he was already a family 😊
