A trip which exceeded our expectations!
From the very early stages of our communication, Janine from Gems was a professional travel agent which understood what I wanted and designed a few packages for us to chose from. Frequent contact and continuous feedback in order to deliver the best possible itinerary was the reason we trusted them for our safari experience.
Not only did she provide an excellent and comfortable trip, but she also stayed in touch with us in order to make sure that everything goes as planned.
We highly recommend this agency no matter what your trip purpose is. We will definitely use them for our next adventure!

Beware - they bankrupted :(
Never got the chance to go on our dream trip with them, they went bankrupt and kept all the money that we sent them

Absolutely awesome with memories to last a lifetime !!
Having enjoyed the safari experience previously in other African and Indian reserves, this was very much a "must do" experience for my better half and I when visiting Cape Town (and South Africa) for the 1st time. After some careful research, decided best location would be the Garden Route Lodge and Game reserve as it covered a greater area and offered potential of viewing wildlife in natural habitat well away from any of the traditional "day trip" safaris accessible from Cape Town.
Chose Gems of Africa and from first communication, through all transactions and importantly transport to and from the reserve, everything was extremely smooth, professional and seamless. Would definitely utilise this company again (next time it's Botswana for us) as they provided everything anyone would require plus lodge and accommodation provided at the Garden Route Game Reserve was outstanding. Excellent value for money as our package included x4 game drives - each one of which was different and offered excellent opportunities to see wildlife up close and personal. Our guide was outstanding, very knowledgable plus clearly put the wildlife first and foremost, loved the limited number of vehicles being in one area at any given time ie: when observing a male cheetah on a kill, or lion, rhino with calf etc, no more than 2 jeeps were near at any one time thus allowing the animals to go about their activities unhindered.
Was very impressed by overall service, drivers and vehicles to and from Reserve excellent - thoroughly recommend.

3-Day Safari
We booked a 3-day Safari with Gems of Africa. It was our first Safari and we are now determined to go back. The communication was easy and very accurate. They always responded within a few hours, all their answers were detailed, accurate and easy to follow. They provided multiple options to chose from and their service (especially Mr. Mpho Thulo) was GREAT. We ended adding a driver service to and from the reserve and that ended as a great service as well.
The Safari we reserved (Mont Eco Game Reserve) EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS by far and was a great value for our money. The place is amazing, the service was excellent, the wildlife was a dream come true. We were promised the Big 5 and we got much more from very very close. Everyone we met at the reserve was delighted.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and Gems made it all happen. They are highly reliable, pay attention to the small details and very responsive. We could not have asked for more.
Excellent confirmation of booking and transparency of inclusion's.
Gems Of Africa responded with the information required with full clarity. Janine was assigned to us to get the information and booking was confirmed without much delay.
As promised our transfer to Gondwana was arranged and available.
Tom our tour guide and driver for the transfer was professional and kept us engaged during the transfers.
The Gondwana staff also mirrored the information that Gems of Africa had shared and our stay was without any problems.
The reserve also arranged our game drives and we are thankful to Janine and the Gems of Africa team for making our holiday memorable.

Great experience for our first safari in Inverdoorn
We had a great time on the Safari. Saw loads of animals up close and enjoyed the whole experience.
It is relatively close to Cape Town - around 2.5 - 3 hours drive, but feels like another planet.
The Inverdoorn resort was lovely, great food and service.
The stars experience was amazing, saw many more stars than back home.
The lions are kept in a separate reserve at the moment, so that is not so great, but as a first time safari it was really good. If you have already been on larger safaris maybe this is not the one for you. But, if you are looking for something close to Cape Town, that gives you the safari experience then this is a great choice.

Attentive, responsive and helpful!
I first reached out to Gems of Africa when looking at booking a 2 night safari for our January trip. Within 24 hours, Kelly got back to me saying that the option I had enquired about was not available. Attached to the email was then a document of options that were available for my selected dates - options that I would not have been able to find myself when looking online. Kelly was extremely responsive and answered all of my questions quickly. We had decided to go with the presented option of Inverdoorn, a reserve that we had not heard of before but found out it is the sister reserve of Aquila. The booking process was easy and smooth, and Inverdoorn were in touch the day before our safari to inform us of pick up time from our accommodation to the safari. When we arrived, we were presented with a (huge!) cake as I had told Kelly that we were visiting for my birthday. A really nice touch that definitely was not needed, but was very much appreciated.
The tour itself was amazing, on our first drive when we arrived we saw lions, rhino, giraffes, springbok, buffalo and ostriches. Then the following morning we saw the same again alongside the elephants. We got very close to the animals without it becoming intrusive and our ranger was both extremely passionate and knowledgeable. You could tell he loved the animals and what he does. I would definitely recommend Gems of Africa to anyone who is looking to book a safari. Hassle free, great communication and reliable!
