Thank you Solo, Rachel, Lilian and all the Sohar team for organizing a wonderful safari for our family.

We discovered a new country, met wonderful people (Hanzabe and Datoga) and Solo was an exceptional guide, very skillful and knowledgeable and kind.

It was an amazing experience, truly breathtaking. Everyone is so kind and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We spent one of the best moments of our life with Zohar African Safaris.

We are so happy and greatful for this experience in Tanzania .

And you have all made it special.

Very special.

Asante Sana!!

Best tour ever!
5/5

Our safari with Zohar was fantastic! We traveled to Tanzania in February 2026 and everything couldn’t have been better or gone smoother. Lilian and her team created a great itinerary and was very easy to communicate with before, during and after our trip. Our guide, Solomon, had a keen sense of where to find animals and could interpret what was going on by watching other animals. For example, just by looking at the zebras, Solomon knew they were watching something and then we would find that something, like a cheetah or lion. Solomon also made sure we had the best views of everything! The accommodations were fun and comfortable. The meals at the lodges and out on safari were delicious. It was amazing to be eating lunch with giraffes walking by out in the middle of the bush! I could go on and on about our wonderful Zohar safari! We would go back in a heartbeat! Worth every penny!

The best choice for an unforgettable authentic personalised experience!
5/5

The most amazing safari trip ever
I chose Zohar African Safaris for our honeymoon because they promised a personalised touch and an authentic experience and they definitely delivered! I would highly recommend booking with this world class company.

Responsive and helpful
From the outset, I was impressed with their quick, helpful communication during the booking process. This responsiveness continued throughout the trip, starting with an introductory briefing by the delightful owner, Lilian Kramer. We decided to change one of our activities on the verge of the trip and we were presented with additional options tailored to our desires.

Superb Organisation, Special Touches
Every aspect of the trip was well planned from the length of time and ideal locations in Arusha, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, the cultural visit to the Masai village on the way back to Arusha, the luxurious accommodations, delicious meals, and special touches. I was delighted with the handwritten notes congratulating us on our marriage, the rose petals adorning the room, the personalised wine and water bottles to name a few. The sundowner was spectacular and the thoughtfulness of framing a picture of this special memory has preserved the moment forever.

Knowledgeable, Personable Guide
Our guide, Nathan, made our trip fun, informative, and memorable. Everyone we interacted with at Zohar was wonderful, but we spent the most time with Nathan and were delighted that he stayed with us throughout the trip as we developed an easy rapport. His humour and wealth of knowledge made him ideal for us, and we were delighted with his dedication to our enjoyment. We particularly enjoyed observing a lion pride set out on a hunt and then finding them successful the next morning, seeing a cheetah take down a gazelle, and seeing 6 rhinos as well as elephant families. He sought out the animals we were most interested in and supplemented his own expertise with written materials. He was a perfect guide and made our trip superb.

Luxurious Accommodations and Easy Transfers
We stayed in the Arusha Coffee Lodge, Serengeti Plains Camp, and Gibbs Farm. Each accommodation has its own special features and they were all wonderfully comfortable. Zohar has partnered with exceptional providers and we were particularly impressed with the tranquility at the Serengeti Plains Camp. Zohar arranged all transfers from the start of the trip to our departure at JRO airport so we did not have to think of anything which allowed us to switch off and connect with nature. I also appreciated the opportunity to have a shower at the Zohar office upon our return to Arusha for our departure flight after a long day.

Know before you go
It is worth wearing layers as the mornings can be cold but the place warms up during the day. The blankets in the jeep are very useful and I used a hair tie to secure mine like a cape. Pack an easily accessible change of clothes so that you can freshen up at the office before getting on your flight.

Everything was more than perfect organized! Lily from Zohar African Safaris is so wonderful and owns perfect listening and organizational skills, nothing was too much for her to do. The tour guide was very nice, funny and polite, always on time, and told us everything and more about the land, culture, animals and had eyes like an eagle. One day we even saw 4 leopards..amazing!! The vehicle and all the other equipment were perfectly maintained. The accomodations they offered us were more then wonderful! We have been travelling a lot through Africa and Tanzania (and the rest of the world) but Zohar African Safaris really gave us a lifetime experience! Asante sana Lilly and the rest of the team. Northern Tanzania Experience
5/5

We had a five day safari in Northern Tanzania with Zohar African Safaris end of december and it was very, very nice.

Luckily a friend of ours, who has been to Tanzania a couple of months before us, had given us the recommendation to contact Zohar. The planning of the trip was great, because Lilian tailored the trip to what we were interested in and picked cosy places to stay overnight. The price for everything seemed very reasonable to us. From the moment of our arrival we felt really well-cared about and our experienced driver/guide Matthew was very friendly, informative and helpful and after a couple of days we felt like good buddies. The days in the National parks have been marvellous, we couldn't even imagine to see so many animals, from lions, big herds of elephants, giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, hyenas, jackals, leopards, cheetahs and many more to the cute little gazelles and the funny pumbas. Besides the animals we also really enjoyed the landscape which changes a lot from park to park and one morning we even made a bicycle excursion to a village with great views and interesting information about the local life. When we had questions during the trip, Matthew and Lilian were responsive at all times and helped us a lot, especially to spontaneously organize our further trip to Zanzibar.

In total we can highly recommend to go on safari with Zohar. They are very professional, kind, helpful and take good care of their customers. To us it was a unique positive experience.

Amazing Safari and Cultural Experience
5/5

I had an amazing safari with Zohar African Safaris this spring. Lilly put together a tailor made itinerary on short notice and was so knowledgeable and helpful. Ken in the United States facilitated and gave incredible input to Lilly and my guide which helped make the trip so memorable. My itinerary was a combination of wildlife viewing and cultural excursions. We visited the Maasai, Datoga and Hadzabe (Bushmen) tribes - all different and all fascinating. We went to three different markets that cater to locals rather than tourists and I learned so much about everday life in Tanzania. My guide had a gift for being able to make conversation with anyone so there were also numerous impromptu cultural times including fishermen at Lake Eyasi and a local woman preserving the fish and others from her village.

And the wildlife - I don't know where to start. I expected to see the usual safari animals like zebras, elephants, lions and wildebeests but I had no idea that I would see so many species large and small. My guide’s spotting ability was amazing and allowed me to see hundreds of birds, small animals, footprints, plants, and more. His experience in animal behavior allowed me to capture photos I would have never gotten on my own. He sensed when we should wait a few more minutes because the animal was getting ready to make a move and he was always right. As a solo female traveler I felt completely safe and taken care of by my guide and the rest of the Zohar staff. My guide and I spent a lot of time together over 12 days and he was professional, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and funny.

I hope to return to Tanzania soon and would choose to travel with Zohar African Safaris again.

Extraordinary Safari with Zohar
5/5

I just returned from Safari organized by Zohar African Safaris, and they exceeded what were my already high expectations for them. Initially, we had numerous pre-trip conversations with Lili Maximillian and Ken Firestone to customize our journey. In addition to wildlife, we wanted to visit with local people and meet with NGOs. Lili arranged our itinerary to accomplish these objectives. Our guide for 9 days was Sammy Sikumbe, a man of many talents -- eight years of elephant research, expert ornithologist, consultant to US zoos and lecturer in US schools, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, speaker of seven languages and player of four musical instruments. A conversationalist who could respond to our many questions on wildlife and conservation, but also the wider context of Tanzania people and politics and culture. Zohar also arranged for local guides - residents in areas where we visited tribal villages -- to introduce us to their people (in Mto Wa Mbu, Lake Eyasi [Hadzabe and Datoga] and Ngorongoro highlands [Maasai]). Finally, Zohar set up encounters with local NGOs working in areas of public health, land rights and conflict mediation - where we gained deeper insights into challenges and solutions to improve local lives, sustain livelihoods and protect traditional cultures and threatened wildlife and habitat. Every night, we enjoyed comfortable accommodations and great food. Elephants rumbled outside our tent one night, we woke and took our cups of coffee to greet them in the morning - a gentle and memorable meeting. I whole-heartedly recommend Zohar to anyone who wants to go beyond the beaten track of other Land Cruisers and engage with the broader context beyond the game parks, as well as experience Serengetiti, Ngorongoro crater, Manyara, Tarangire and other places where extraordinary wildlife gather.

A model of a service oriented company.
5/5

There were 8 of us, members of the family, ages 30 to 70 most of us never been to Africa before and one - me- with a couple of dafaris before.
The concesus has been: a lifetime experiece!
Zohar did an excellent job in arranging it all and making sure that everything flowed smoothly with great guides, Sami and Fasal who knew how to find the best corners to watch the animals yet, most of the times only us, without
the crowds.
The planning was perfect from the choice of the itinerary, places to stay and everything else.
Highly reccomended.

Fantastic Honeymoon Safari
5/5

We had such a great experience with Zohar Safari, we sincerely recommend it!!!
Lillian was very prompt via email right from the beginning, before booking and she just kept being present before, during and after our trip and everything was very smooth!!
My husband and I have just come back from this trip of a lifetime and we have so many memories!
We booked a private safari, just the 2 of us and visited Tarangire, the central part of Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. In between these wonderful parks, we also visited the Mtonga tribe (prbably incorrect spelling, but it means Mosquito River in swaili), the Hadzabe tribe and the Datoga tribe.
CAR: Large 4x4 Toyota Landcruiser almost new, comfortable, with pop up roof.
PARKS: Amazing!!! I really had no idea... Tarangire has so many elephant and at this time of the year so many baby Elephants! The Serengeti is just incredible, the land is so flat that you can spot animals from so far away, the amount of lions and leopards we saw was incredible! The Ngorongoro is surreal, you are surrounded 360 degrees from the rim of the crater and on the inside you have Savannah and forest and then you can see animals so easily!!!
GUIDE: Our guide was Godfrey, such a gracious guy. His English is very good and he is very knowledgeble about the animals (for example, why is the secretary bird is called secretary?), their hang outs spot (we saw so many lions and we were the only vehicle there!!!!) and beside that, we have been taking about tribes, politics, poaching, about everything. He was very plesant to be with and he took a great care of us, always making sure that we were safe and enjoyed our time.
HIGHLIGHTS: Believe or not we had two 6 months old Lion cubs laying under our car for shade... These 2 little ones were amazing, this happen in Ngorongoro!!In the serengeti, we saw a mama lion with 3 cubs, very close to us, over some stacked rocks, we saw a Cheeta that had just killed a gazzelle and was dragging it to find a safe place to eat, we saw a leopard with cub just by our car, we saw a male baboon chasing away a leopard, a jackal biting a lion and on top of all.... an heard of elephant that charged a pride of 18 lions that were feeding in front of them and have them cornered.... You understand we were shocked!!!!!
At any rate beside these strong emotions with these animals, we had the chance of seeing the tribes I mention above which I honestly think it has been a very enriching experience! Our guides to visit those tribes (Jumma and Musa) where great as well. The cultural visit to the tribes was something we had not thought of doing, and now we are so happy we did.
Tanzania is beautiful and we are planning our next trip back obviously with Zohar Safari
