Safari experience met bucket list expectations
We travelled March 1 - 15 2017 with Go Touch Down, one week in Capetown and one week on the Johannesburg tour which included 3 days safari at Kapama River Lodge. Our stay in Capetown met more than our expectations from the one bedroom apartment to the "Gordon Ramsay" meals to our efficient guide. The only bump in the road was our two day stay at Dunkeld Estates prior to our safari. We travelled as a group of 4 and had booked the trip in 2015. Upon arrival we were told that they were overbooked and that we would have to stay in a Fisherman's Cabin 10 min walk away from our friends who were put in a guest suite. When I questioned the manager why we were separated from our friends when the booking was placed in 2015 she told me room assignment did not have anything to do with when the reservation was made, and that it was not her problem. What we found in the cabin was one hanger in the closet, a front door that would not latch, to keep it closed one had to lock it, no safe, television that did not work, and no phone to call someone for assistance so we had to walk the 10 min back to reception to get someone, no lighting at night to walk back to the cabin all the while hoping that we were able to spot the horse dung that had been deposited along the way. Service in the restaurant very slow. We were the only table for all 3 meals we had there, and dinner took 2 hours to complete. Our friend who was in a guest suite found what looked like potato bugs walking on the bathroom floor both nights of our stay. I sent a letter to the C.O.O. of Go Touch Down 4 weeks ago outlining my experience and to date no reply and at this point do not expect one.
I found Go Touch Down in Oakville to be more than accommodating and organized. I would recommend travelling with them for the Capetown tour, but as Dunkeld Estates is owned and operated by Go Touch Down
avoid the Johannesburg tour, and book with someone else. The safari portion at Kapana River Lodge was outstanding . It provided excellent accommodations and the thrill of seeing 4 of the 5 Big Five up close and personal. Never did I expect to have a male lion walk right passed the safari vehicle or a giraffe standing two feet away.

Our dream trip going on Safari became a reality
We have just returned from our 8 day trip on safari in South Africa. Africa has always been on our wishlist. South Africa offered a variety of what we wanted, and we signed up for a Go Touch Down tour in 2015 and traveled Sept 2016. My wife wanted the other tour they offered, the city one, in cape town, but I was not going to go to Africa and not see wildlife. Safari offerd a sample of everything, so we settled for that. We stayed at 3 properties, Dukeld Estate, Seasons Spa, and Humala lodge. We arrived a day early on the Tuesday and stayed a night at Seasons before the tour kicked off the next day. The spa helped to recover from the 15 hr flight. Overall the guides 9/10, the value of the tour 9/10, the properties 8/10, Humala gets a 9/10, the activities 8/10, the staff service at the lodges 9/10, the friendliness 9/10, and the food - well that gets a 10/10. Braaai is my new favorite word. It is a barbecue but S. African style. It is to die for. Only negative was the excursion at a very dry Kruger park, as this SA reserve has been experiencing a drought.
The trip and flights (economy) cost us 10K. We would recommend this tour and company. Overall I give them 4.5 stars

GoTouchdown Safari tour was a true awe-inspiring experience
Thank you Go Touchdown Tours! What a trip!
For starters, our driver Thabo was efficient, knowledgeable and a genuine character. We enjoyed his commentary as we drove from JoBerg to Royal Morubisi and later to Tshukudu and on. He stayed with us for transportation throughout, including airport trips, and he certainly is an asset to the company.
At Royal Morobisi in Kaingo Game Preserve, we were greeted by Carmen and staff and were assigned lodging in the Research Center compound. Rooms were wonderful although sufficient hot water for washing/showering was a bit of a challenge. Our chef, bartender, manager, maid service, and every staff member we interacted with were just wonderful. Every member of staff seemed so happy and just couldn't do enough for us. We felt very spoiled. Cuisine was absolutely superb. When one of our party inquired about a specific liquor, the staff went out and secured it for the next day. As I said; we were treated like royalty. Our guide/tracker, Izzie, was a joy. Although quite young compared to our group, she had a charming wit and interacted with us very well. Izzie managed to guide us to all of the Big Five as well as manage "SunDowner" activity efficiently. We felt very safe with her when out on our game drives.
At Tshukudu Game Lodge, we were cheerfully greeted by staff and assigned our bungalows before heading out on our first game drive led by our tracker/guide Aubrey. Almost immediately, Aubrey had us on the track of a pair of Cheetahs. Throughout our several drives, Aubrey displayed an incredible depth of knowledge of the environment including the animals, birds, plants and trees. Too many interesting facts to list.He managed to arrange "SunDowners" at some gorgeous spots. We enjoyed being with him very much. In Tshukudu, we managed to see four of the Big Five with only a leopard eluding us. The trip to the Endangered Species Center was enjoyable. More facts about the plight of some of Africa's endangered animals. We also enjoyed the day in Kruger although it was much more like traveling through Yellowstone Park with all the additional vehicles and tourists around us. It just showed us, again, how spoiled we were at Tshukudu.Staff at Tshukudu were all charming and made us feel very welcome. One particular server, Dolly, was just a delight; always smiling and our maid, Edna, took excellent care of us. With all the plans for construction, we hope you don't give up the Boma dining experience as it was just magical to eat outside under those majestic trees with a firepit to create a serene mood. I would say the cuisine at Tshukudu was delicious and we certainly had enough although not quite as good as our Royal Morobisi experience.
All in all, we had an absolutely fantastic time on this Safari. Many memories of a beautiful part of the natural world and some very nice people who call that area home. If anyone we know is planning a trip to South Africa, we will most certainly send them your way. Thank you all for a phenomenal experience!

Our accommodations and tour guides we very knowledgeable.
Our entire trip to Johannesburg, Royal Morubisi Safari Reserve and Capetown was wonderful.
The accommodations, tours and activities gave us a clear image of the history and beauty of South Africa.
We would very much recommend this tour by Go Touchdown.
very attentive to needs and knowledgeable about all aspects
Our signature tour was nothing short of a trip of a lifetime. Accommodations were excellent and food was too. All tour drivers and guides were very knowledgeable and very considerate to all our needs.
Go Touch Down was very easy to contact during our tour to sort out any problems or questions encountered along the way.
The highlight was definitely the Safari where we were able to get an up close view of all the animals. Traveling as two older single women we never felt confused, threatened or unsafe with anything on the tour.

Professional, organized, welcoming, friendly
This is the 2nd time that I traveled with Go Touch Down and I would do it again and again. They crafted a different experience for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. All of the guides were always knowledgeable, professional and a joy to be around. Capetown is an amazing city from the mountains, the ocean and the farmland all in one city, its somewhere everyone should experience at least 1x in life and hopefully again and again.

Everything Lucia said was true I didn't have to worry about a thing once I booked it and got there
I went to three different or two different lodges they were both excellent I wouldn't rated one of them the moribusa is a five star and shcikadoo as a three and a half star they both had different things that were better for Safaris and we went for an all-day Tour on the cougar National Park and that went well she did book the rest of the trip through Cape Town and Victoria Falls and everything went as expected I would rate it a 10

This trip was absolutely theeee best. The work that went into the itinerary for this trip was planed out thoroughly. The accommodations were beautiful, the food delicious, restaurants beautiful, safaris, and were all exceptional. Special shout out to the best tour guides, Tony and Jonathan. They had everything covered in their planning, All I had to do was show up.
I took this trip Solo. Which for me was a long time coming. I wanted to see the animals in their own backyard. Figured if I didn't do it now since I am getting older I would never do it.
I researched this trip at a travel slow local to me 2 years go. I gathered all the information and talked to everyone. Then last year (2025) I visited the same travel show and confirmed what I had learned. Then I booked the trip. I took a leap of faith that I could do this and that Go Touchdown was the company to make it happen.
I was right. I made my own flight arrangements but I could have done it with their help. They did help me figure out when I would need to be there on time.
The night before I stayed in the hotel they arranged which was excellent and very easy to find, didn't even have to leave the airport to get to it!
The 2 lodges I stayed in on my trip were different but excellent. The staff at each one was friendly, helpful, did everything they could to make the trip easy. I wanted for nothing.
The game drives could not have been better. We saw animals on the first drive and on every drive after. It varied because they are wild and move around but there was an opportunity to see them every time.
I joined a group of other people, who I did not know, but we quickly became traveling friends. We rode around together, shared meals together and lived the same experiences. Once we got caught in the rain coming back to the lodge and had a great time laughing about it. We were soaked.
We saw all kinds of animals, including zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, elephants, cape buffalo, lions, leopard, Zazu the bird (think lion king movie), Warthogs (pumbaa) and Rhinos. Some were breathtakingly close (I never doubted our safety though).
The rangers who took us around were knowledgeable and fun to be with. They are excellent at backing up when needed and finding the best views to see all of the animals.
I took over 1000 photos and now have to download and go through them.
I wanted to stay longer. It was definitely worth going and I may do it again.

Provided excellent service, outstanding management of the smallest of details
12 day tour , 4 days in Cape Town, 4 days in Krueger Park area, 3 days in Victoria falls, Zimbabwe
. All tour guides were very professional, well educated about their area of expertise, and very personable. All guides were. Very dependable, all pickups and returns were on time. all guides were with us constantly, We never felt abandoned. Both hotels, the Maroc Boutique in Blouberg and the Tshudutu Game lodge are owned by the tour company and are excellent. Service and personnel outstanding. We were booked on 4 flights between locations by the tour company and all flights were on time, met at each destination by company personnel. Every outing promised was delivered, and any requests we had were provided for. We were definitely given the v i p treatment. All meals provided were excellent and accommodations were excellent. We never had to communicate with the tour operator, as we had no issues. As far as value is concerned, this tour was considerably less than comparable tours we researched. We booked this tour in Canada and liked the fact they were all South Africans, and all personnel and facilities where part of the company.
