Magic Namibia

Namibia is a land of contrasts, its diverse landscapes unfold beautifully along long road journeys. We were lucky: after years of drought, the country experienced heavy rains, transforming the desert into a blooming spectacle of flowers and colors. Wildlife isn’t limited to national parks; with a bit of luck, you might spot animals even along the road. Most travelers opt for self-drive—a truly rewarding choice. And above all, Namibia is a safe country with warm, welcoming people.

I had no preconceptions about Namibia - I'd always been interested in the sand and the desert elephants and Skeleton coast and i thought I'd visit this place called Etosha but having been to Kruger just a month beforehand I expected little - especially as it was salt flats and not what I considered t be 'bushland'. What did i know? How wrong was I?! Etosha was incredible. We sat in the car just yards from lions for an hour. We saw hundreds of zebra. There were hyena and ostrich and warthogs and rhino and just about everything you wanted to see. In just two or three days we'd seen hundreds of animals in a very relaxed atmosphere - very little traffic on Etosha's 'roads' (it's basic but it's great for that reason). Outside the park though we saw giraffe 'wild' just wandering about the desert. Sadly we never found the desert elephants but the Skeleton Coast had huge seal colonies (man, they smell!) and the vast sand dunes of Sossuvlei
Read more are just unreal - I paid $100 for a sunset flight in a small plane and it was totally unforgetable. Namibia isn't as polished as some locations but that's its appeal for me. Just a stunning and unruined country.

From the Etosha in the north to the dunes in the south and from the Kalahari in the east to the skeleton coast in the west I found this to be an amazing country with great friendly people and so many experiences

Wildlife: Seeing huge herds of Elephant (over 300 strong) on the move through open grassland was a real highlight. At the time we visited there were only small groups of other game, but these were very rewarding viewings.
Scenic beauty: Beautiful grassland, ant mounds, the clear Kwando River and sunsets are all to be highly recommended.
Bush vibe: Highly recommended on this basis. The camping along the river really puts you amongst the game. A lot of the best viewing is right from the camping areas. The relative lack of tourists also creates a real bush vibe.
Birding: Great bird watching in general – numerous species (possibly due to such a diversity of habitats in a small area). Highlights from our trip include different species of bee-eaters, Malachite Kingfishers, Fish Eagles, Bateleur Eagles and many types of waterbirds.

Namibia is a stunning country with a rugged beauty. All camps we have stayed at inside and outside Etosha have offered excellent wildlife viewing.

Remoteness and desert scenery are prime reasons to go to namibia. Every other place I have been to offers better Wildlife, like Kenza, Tanzania, South Africa

My first motivation when coming to Namibia was not to go on a safari, but rather to see the desert - and Deadvlei in particular.
In Namibia, you can see spectacular landscapes and great wildlife, while enyoing almost the same comfort as at home.
By renting a car you have the to plan as you go and make stops at every turn.
Nambia is ideal for desert lovers and everybody that enjoys wide open spaces. It is ideal also for animal lovers who enjoy seeing all kinds of animals and are not only after the big 5. Those will definitely not be dissapointed.
Ideal also for photographers, with varied landscape and nice colours.
Family friendly, for seniors and families with small children alike.
